IMM Convening 2027

Two days of participant-driven sessions for advanced Impact Measurement & Management practitioners. No keynotes, no panels — just real exchange with peers who do this work every day.

March or April 2027 · Two days Europe · City to be confirmed 100–115 practitioners

Overview

A shared experience, not a conference

This two-day convening brings together advanced IMM practitioners from around the world for a highly engaging, participant-driven experience — intentionally designed as a shared experience rather than a traditional conference. Drawing on the depth of experience and collective expertise in the room, participants engage together from start to finish, building relationships and insights over the two days.

Building on the success of the 2026 inaugural IMM Convening, Impact Frontiers (IF), the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN), and the Operating Principles for Impact Management (OPIM) — together the Organizing Partners — will host the second annual convening in 2027, focused exclusively on advanced IMM practitioners.

Building on 2026

From Montréal to Europe

The inaugural convening, held in Montréal in 2026, brought together almost 100 practitioners. The 2026 group drew largely from North America, so the 2027 convening moves to Europe to be easier to reach for practitioners from other regions.

The 2027 convening keeps the format participants valued most and builds on what worked, guided by their feedback.

What to expect

Engage, connect, learn, build, contribute

A highly engaging, participant-driven experience among advanced IMM practitioners. Given the depth of experience and collective knowledge in the room, participants engage together from start to finish — building relationships and insights over the two days.

Engage

Participate in peer and collective knowledge sharing and development, including through content deep-dives.

Connect

Be part of a vital and growing community, developing relationships with other advanced practitioners that last beyond the convening.

Learn

Stay abreast of emerging and advanced practices and topics in IMM, and explore unknowns and challenges the field is facing.

Build

Serve as a channel for peer discussions that surface perspectives around best practices, challenges, and tension points in advanced IMM topics.

Contribute

Support the advancement of the field of IMM and help validate its growing importance.

Session formats

The format is intentionally flexible. The agenda is developed from input shared via a pre-event survey. While topics are defined, discussions are led and shaped by participants.

Full-length sessions

In-depth discussions sparked by one participant and shaped through group dialogue.

Learning Labs

Shorter, focused conversations where one participant briefly shares a practice, tool, or insight, followed by discussion.

Lunch discussions

A few open tables with specific pre-assigned topics for those who want to join during lunch.

Chatham House Rules

All event discussions are held under Chatham House Rules and are intended to be confidential, to encourage candid conversation among participants. We welcome participants publicly sharing high-level takeaways or observations from the event, but please refrain from attributing any commentary to a specific participant or organization.

Participants

Who the convening is for

We seek a mix of roughly 70% investors — asset managers and asset owners, including investment roles carrying significant IMM responsibility — and 30% standard-setters, networks, associations, nonprofits, consultants and service providers. All participants should have a minimum of five years of direct IMM experience.

Given demand, we will grow to 100–115 participants so we can welcome more people while keeping the intimacy of participant-driven discussion. To support broad geographic representation, we plan to offer scholarships for participants from Africa, Latin America, and Asia.

Agenda

Co-designed with participants

As a truly participant-led event, the agenda is co-designed with participants. Topics are first surfaced through a pre-event survey, which provides the structure of an agenda that is then finalized in person during the convening with participants.

Shaped in advance — and in the room

The agenda is partly shaped in advance by participants through a pre-event survey, and further refined during the gathering. This ensures the convening reflects the questions, challenges, and practices most relevant to those in the room.

Cumulative, not a sequence of talks

The design is purposeful and cumulative. Sessions build on what came before, allowing ideas, questions, and relationships to evolve — creating learning that extends beyond the event itself.

The organizing committee and sponsors do not hold a dedicated agenda slot or topic. This ensures the convening reflects the questions, challenges, and practices most relevant to everyone in the room.

Pre-registration

Four steps to your spot

Pre-registration helps us build a balanced group and match you to the right conversations. It takes a few minutes.

Open the pre-registration form

The form opens in a new tab. Pre-register by end of November.

  1. 01

    Pre-register by end of November

Complete the pre-registration form by end of November at the latest. Pre-registration is required for anyone who plans to attend. It does not guarantee registration, which is subject to meeting experience requirements and available spots.

  2. 02

    Review by the organizing committee

Capacity is limited to approximately 100–115 people. The committee reviews pre-registrations on a rolling basis against the selection criteria (see below).

  3. 03

    Decision by end of December

You'll receive an email with one of three outcomes: confirmed, waitlisted, or unable to accommodate. Waitlisted registrants are contacted if a place opens up.

  4. 04

    Full registration and payment

If your pre-registration is confirmed, you'll receive a link to complete full registration and pay the participation fee. Your place is secured only once your ticket purchase is completed.

Selection criteria

The criteria guide how we build a balanced group, and we review every submission individually. If you're not sure whether your profile fits, we still encourage you to pre-register — use the open-text field to tell us what you'd bring to the room.

Experience

At least 5+ years of focused experience in the IMM field, including impact measuring, evaluation, monitoring, and interventions.

Composition

We aim for roughly 70% investors (asset managers and owners) and 30% other stakeholders (standard-setters, networks, nonprofits, service providers, consultants). Once capacity is reached, subsequent applications are placed on the waitlist.

One participant per organization

Due to limited capacity, we accept one participant per organization — except sponsoring organizations, which may send 2 participants.

Cost

The generous support of our sponsors has enabled us to keep costs low for participants and to provide limited scholarships. Full and partial scholarship tickets are limited; priority is given to participants who would otherwise be unable to attend.
